Nexans of France has won the first position in the world in submarine power cables and winding wires, the second in LAN cables and power cables, and the first in Europe in communication copper cables, data transmission cables, equipment cables and bare wires; japan's Sumitomo Electric fiber optic cable production and sales for many years has also been ranked in the forefront of the world.
From the perspective of the development trend of wire and cable technology, the development direction of wire and cable is: large capacity, ultra-high voltage, oil-free, anti-short circuit, high reliability, and maintenance-free. At present, the cross-linked cables of various voltage levels have gradually replaced the traditional oil-filled paper insulated power cables, and the application of high-voltage and ultra-high-voltage cross-linked cables is becoming more and more extensive.
In addition, environmental protection cable is also an international trend, not just the development trend of China's wire and cable industry. Europe, the United States, Japan and other countries have higher and higher requirements for the cables used. It is forbidden to use or import non-environmentally friendly cables, and it is clearly stipulated that wires and cables must meet the standards and characteristics of halogen-free, low toxicity, flame retardant, low smoke volume during combustion, no or less corrosive gases and harmful halogen-containing gases, no heavy metals such as lead, no soil pollution, high heat resistance and high temperature, and recyclable waste wire materials, in particular, the safety, non-toxicity, flame retardancy and other indicators of the product are particularly valued. With the promulgation of the RoHS directive by the European Union, the large-scale adoption of eco-friendly wires and cables has become an international trend.
As far as the domestic policy on environmental protection cables is concerned, Beijing, Shanghai and other cities have clearly stipulated that the use of PVC wires and cables is prohibited in important buildings to avoid large amounts of smoke and halogen-containing gases when fires occur, causing more casualties. Halogen-free low-smoke crosslinked polyolefin insulated wires and cables have become local regulations in these areas. As the country's increasingly stringent requirements for environmental protection, the demand for such environmentally friendly cable products will gradually expand, which requires companies to continuously increase investment in technology research and development, and companies that do not meet environmental protection requirements will face the risk of being eliminated by the market.
With the future wire and cable market will continue to increase, but at the same time, the quality and technical requirements for wire and cable products will also be higher and higher. Fortunately, some powerful domestic enterprises are increasing the cost of R & D investment to get rid of malicious competition in the low-end market.
